Safety Control

Our work can start as a member of the risk assessment team using ISO 12100 as a guide to determine the risks associated with your machine or application. As an alternative our work can begin developing the safety related control functions by analyzing the risk analysis for mitigations by control. Using ISO 13849 and tools like SISTEMA we can develop a control system design which meets the application requirements and complies with international standards for safety.

Once we have received your approval on the concept phase we can proceed with more detailed design. Control panels are designed for compliance with Underwriters Laboratory Standard 508 for industrial control panels (UL508). Control components are selected based on the equipment performance level (PL) determined in the risk assessment. We have implemented solutions utilizing Allen-Bradley or Siemens industrial automation controllers.

Canton Inc. does not fabricate control panels in house. We produce shop drawings and documents which can be used by our clients to fabricate in their own in-house UL508 shop or we can manage bidding and fabrication services of third-party companies.

Once fabrication is complete, Canton Inc. can provide factory test and adjust support where programming scripts and machine functions are tested. Once the test and adjust phase is concluded a factory acceptance test will be performed insuring compliance with the project’s control risk assessment.

Canton Inc. can manage the onsite final installation of control components or can arrive onsite once the installation is complete. After a final check of wiring and components Canton Inc. can perform the final site acceptance test to ensure the machine or application functions as intended.

No project is complete without training and paperwork. Canton Inc. can assist with development of owner’s manuals, training materials, and actual onsite training.
